About Us

Jeffrey WeberA message from Jeffrey Weber:  In the summer of 2007, I started SmartBalanceTransfers.com as a pet project. At the time, I had already spent three years analyzing credit card offers on my first website, Credit Card Depot. However, I never felt that I was doing enough to help people deal with and eventually overcome credit card debt. So I decided I’d build a little website about balance transfers and see if I could raise awareness and educate people on how these transactions can go a long way in helping them overcome credit card problems.

In the years that followed, I began to focus more and more attention on this site. At first, I maintained a pretty strict focus on evaluating balance transfer offers. But over time, I broadened the scope of the website and began focusing on issues that were impacting my site’s visitors. These visitors gave me tremendous insights into how credit card companies behave, particularly during the depths of the credit crisis in 2009.

Today, I strive to use the insights I’ve gained during the seven plus years I’ve spent in the credit card industry to help people better understand credit card offers and, hopefully, how to use them to their advantage.  I am eternally thankful that this little website I started back in 2007 has been able to help many thousands of people save money and get started on the path to becoming credit card debt free.

The tremendous feedback and support I’ve received from visitors makes the drudgery of writing about credit cards on a daily basis a truly rewarding experience.

Thanks for your interest in learning more about SmartBalanceTransfers.com. Should you have any questions or if you are a member of the media and would like to speak with me about the credit card industry, please feel free to contact me here and I will get back to you promptly.
