Chase Freedom® Visa – $100 Bonus Cash Back Bonus Offer

Chase Freedom Credit CardUpdated November 2nd 2010 – The Chase Freedom® Visa – $100 Bonus Cash Back is now offering a $100 cashback bonus to new customers. In order to qualify for this bonus, new customers must simply spend $799 on the Freedom card during the first three months of cardmembership.  Once the $799 spending requirement is met, the $100 cashback bonus is awarded in 8 to 10 weeks.

This particular Chase Freedom(SM) Visa provides one of the more lucrative cash back sign up incentives presently on the market. Discover currently offers a version of its More Card that comes with a $100 cash back bonus. However, most other credit card companies aren’t offering anything similar to these deals.

Bonus cash back rewards like those offered with the Chase Freedom® Visa – $100 Bonus Cash Back and other competitors aren’t new. However, the Chase Freedom® Visa deal is particularly generous as it amounts to a 12.5% cash back return on the required $799 of spending. Historically, special cash back deals are usually no more than $50.

Apart from the initial $100 bonus, the Chase Freedom® Visa – $100 Bonus Cash Back is essentially a straight 1% cashback credit card with rotating categories that offer 5% cashback. This cash back structure is similar to that used by Discover, which offers 5% cash back rewards in categories that change every three months.

For the holiday season, Chase Freedom cardholders earn 5% cash back on purchases made at department stores and supermarkets on up to $1500 in purchases. If you take full advantage of this, you can earn an extra $75 in cash back before the end of the year.

Another interesting feature of the Chase Freedom® Visa – $100 Bonus Cash Back offer is that it offers an extra 1% cashback when you book airfare through their online booking system. Aside from this, the rewards program is pretty standard.

One drawback for some consumers may be the fact that this card does not offer a 0% APR on balance transfers or purchases. A number of other Chase credit cards do offer this feature, including the standard version of the Chase Freedom® Visa card, which offers a 0% Intro APR on balance transfers for 12 months, but does not offer the $100 cashback deal.

Overall, the Chase Freedom® Visa – $100 Bonus Cash Back card is a pretty solid card with a decent rewards program and competitive interest rate structure. When you factor in the $100 promotional bonus, this card proves to be good for people who like freebies as well as people who want a no annual fee cashback card.

  2. Balance Transfers Helper Says:

    Kevin,

The $100 cash back offer with the Chase Freedom card is still available, at least for December. Credit card companies change offers frequently, so I don’t if it will change at start of the new year.

  3. Gavin Says:

Can you get this card if you already have a Chase card and get the $100 bonus?

  4. marissa Says:

Why do you have to register every three months? Wouldn’t everyone want to get the bonus? Seems like a little hassle.

  5. Balance Transfers Helper Says:

    Marissa,

I think they do it because not everyone will register. While this is a nuisance, I think this strategy is one of the reasons they are able to offer 5% on these categories. If everyone signed up, I think they would have to lower it to 3%. Its not necessarily fair, but it benefits people who actively manage their accounts and rewards.
